John Wong 'QSM'

John Wong comes from a business, management and legal background. He has developed excellent relationships with the Auckland Asian and wider communities, inn addition to connections with the New Zealand media networks.

John has dedicated his life to public health and research in Aotearoa, New Zealand. His services were recognised in the 2010 new year’s honors list when he was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal for services to the ethnic community. He was the immediate past Director, Asian Family Services at the Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand where he had extensive involvement with varied community groups.

John is amongst one of the founding members of The Asian Network Incorporation, TANI and has been involved with the organization form 2002 to date. He has also been involved on a voluntary basis with varied community agencies. These include among others:
 

  • Board Member, AFS
  • Chairman and Trustee of the Chinese Positive Ageing Charitable Trust (2006 to datet)
  • Board member of the Auckland District Police Asian Advisory Board (2005-2019)
    County Manukau District Health Board - Community and Public Health Advisory Committee (2015 – 2019)
  • Founding Chairman of the Auckland Regional Migrant Services Charitable Trust which oversees the Auckland Regional Migrant Services (ARMS) in Auckland City and Manukau City (2003-2005)
